History

Located in Germany: The Setex Production Mill

The company was founded in 1990 by the current Managing Directors, Konrad Schröer and Markus Enk. At the time the weaving mill Gebr. Vagedes stopped production and the current Managing Directors, who had been employed there for a long time, rented the building and set up SETEX and continued the business under a new name with 17 employees.

In 1996, the old established company, R. ten Hompel (RUTHO) in Bocholt, was taken over. High quality soft flannel bed linen, flannel and fitted sheets are manufactured under the brand names “RUTHO” and "SETEX" as well as raised woven mattress covers, coated water impermeable hygiene covers and table covers for to the customer’s specific requirements in all types and sizes for the contract sector.

Business developed smoothly, which allowed Konrad Schröer after a few years to look around for land to build his new textile factory.

After lengthy negotiations with the City Council of Hamminkeln, today’s location was acquired in 1997. A completely new textile factory was built on a green field site in 1998 based on the latest practices.

At the end of 1998 a company called CLARTEX was established with a French partner in order to boost exports to France. CLARTEX is based in Mulhouse in Alsace and should boost existing business in France, which is already good.

In 2002, SETEX took over the weaving mill WISSELINK in Aalten (NL), which in the meantime has been relocated to Hamminkeln-Dingden.

Further acquisitions of the weaving mill Günter Meckelholt in 2006 and the frensch textile company Tissage du Moulin in 2007 and also the buildup of the polish sewing and make-up company Lubatex in 2006 has proved as a lucrative investment.
